Sports
performance at a high level requires an intensive, relaxed concentration which
has much in common with the hypnotic state itself. High level performers are
observed to go into active trance-like states when performing at their best,
often called being “in the flow” or “in the zone”. Hypnosis
teaches the athlete to achieve this state, even in highly competitive and stressful
situations.
Through
the mastery of stress by hypnotic methods, the athlete can release their potential
for greater achievement. Concentration, relaxation, self-belief, drawing more
effectively on the great mental and physical resources possessed by human beings,
being able to hold to a powerful mental image of success, are part of the hypnotic
training of athletes.
